This class will teach you the basics of brioche knitting: a popular, squishy, two-sided stitch pattern! It may seem daunting, but it's really only a combination of three stitches.
We recommend having at least 6 months knitting experience before taking this class. We also recommend knowing how to knit continental (with the yarn held in the left hand) although it's not required.
NOTE: This class has homework to be completed before the class starts! See below for instructions.
You will learn how to: brioche knit, brioche purl, slip one yarn over, and read a brioche pattern.
You must already know how to: cast on, knit, purl, yarn over, work in the round, slip stitches, and fix basic knitting mistakes.
If you do not know any of the required techniques, we can teach you any technique in a half-hour of our weekly workshop on Thursdays.
Required materials: 300 yards of sport or fingering weight yarn in two colors, US 4 (3.5 mm) 24" circular needles, one stitch marker. We recommend Shibui Birch.
With your chosen edge color, cast on 110 (for a 18" cowl) or 150 (for a 26" cowl) stitches, place marker, and join to work in the round.
Knit 4 rounds.
Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel or reschedule your session we require at least 24 hours notice to give you store credit or a refund. We can not give you a refund or credit with less than 24 hours notice.
