Step up your knitting game and learn how to fix your own mistakes!
You will learn how to: unknit (or "tink"), take out more than one row ("frog"), pick up dropped stitches, fix twisted stitches, and put in a lifeline.
You should already know how to: cast on, knit, purl, bind off, and weave in ends.
Note: this class has homework to be completed before the class! See below for instructions.
Required materials: at least 25 grams of a worsted or bulky weight yarn in a light solid color (no acrylic, no plant fibers), corresponding needles (US 9 / 5.5 mm or US 10.5 / 6.5 mm), corresponding crochet hook (US I / 5.5 mm or US K / 6.5 mm).
Please purchase your supplies at Cast Away. If you plan on buying your materials the day of the class, please come at least 15 minutes early.
SIGN UP by booking time in our Thursday Evening Workshop or Tuesday Morning Workshop. These classes are for anyone learning any knitting or crocheting technique, so you will be among students learning all sorts of things! We recommend signing up for 1–1.5 hours to learn all of the techniques above.
You will start two swatches to practice making and fixing mistakes on, one in garter stitch and the other in stockinette. If you only have time to make one swatch, make the stockinette one. It's okay for these swatches to be different gauges/yarns.
Cast on 20 sts.
Knit 6 rows.
K3, p to last 3 sts, k3.
Knit one row.
Repeat steps 3 & 4 until swatch measures 4" from cast on, leave on needles (do not bind off).
