Ever wondered how to make your finished pieces look extra professional? Blocking is an important but often skipped part of knitting and crocheting! It relaxes the fibers, evens any irregular stitches, and allows for changing the size and shape of a piece (if you want it to).
Simply put, blocking is when you soak your garment in water with a little special soap, then lay it flat to dry (sometimes pinning in place, too). Of course, there are plenty of other tips & tricks to get your knits looking just how you want them, which is what this workshop is for!
In this unique workshop you will bring in a *small finished piece to practice blocking with. We will all block our pieces together and you'll leave your piece at the shop overnight to dry.
*acceptable items to bring in: hats, cowls, baby sweaters, gloves, socks, or anything that's smaller than 10" x 20". If you don't have a finished piece to bring in, you can always practice blocking with a 4-6" gauge swatch!
Important Note: Since your blocked items will be on display in the shop for a couple days while they dry, your items must be made with yarns available for sale at Cast Away. (This is because we have no doubt that our customers will see your projects and want to make them themselves, and we can't be turning people away if we don't have the yarn!)
Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel or reschedule your session we require at least 24 hours notice to give you store credit or a refund. We can not give you a refund or credit with less than 24 hours notice.
