Learn one of the easiest ways of weaving in this fun two hour workshop! Rigid heddle weaving is the perfect way to play with color and use up all that stash yarn. Plus, you can borrow one of our looms for your first class to make sure you enjoy the craft before investing in your own loom!
You will learn how to: warp the loom using the direct warping method, thread the heddle, tie on, and start weaving.
This class teaches you how to make a scarf about 6.5" wide by 60" long. You won't finish the whole scarf in the class, so we let you take the loom home to finish it!
You don't need any prior weaving experience to take this class. You're also welcome to take this class if you have some experience and need a refresher.
Required materials: 150 yards of multi-ply, strong (won't break easily when you pull it apart) dk or worsted weight yarn for the warp, 150 yards of dk or worsted weight yarn for the weft (can be a variety of yarns/colors), a darning needle, and scissors (optional).
Please purchase your supplies at Cast Away. If you plan on buying your materials the day of the class, please come at least 15 minutes early. If you are bringing yarn to use from home you must wind it before class.
Ages 16+ are welcome.
Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel or reschedule your session we require at least 24 hours notice to give you store credit or a refund. We can not give you a refund or credit with less than 24 hours notice.
You may take this class as many times as you like, but you may only rent a loom from us twice. After that, you must purchase your own loom to use.
